From the Commonplace Book is a collection that explores the relationship between environment, identity, and memory. Rooted in my experience of growing up between rural and urban spaces, the work draws on themes of displacement, diaspora, and cultural storytelling. I translate lived experience into garments that carry a sense of history and transformation. This collection is about materialising belonging, about how clothing can hold memories of place, movement, and in-between spaces. It reflects an ongoing dialogue between personal narrative and broader cultural landscapes, bridging physical surroundings with emotional depth, and using fashion as a way to navigate complex ideas of heritage, home, and identity. From the Commonplace Book is a visual diary of movement, survival, and self-definition, created for those who understand clothing as a form of storytelling.
